This houndstooth blanket is not only classic and gorgeous, it's fabulously soft and warm. It is 100% alpaca fiber! Alpaca fiber is naturally warm and eco-friendly. The warmth comes from the air pockets within the fibers. Those air pockets create extra warm insulation. Alpaca fiber is warmer than wool. It is sheared from the animals once a year. They look a little goofy after their haircut, but they are not hurt.

Alpacas are easy on the land. They have a pad, not a hoof. This is easier on grass. And they aren't very big animals, also making them easier on the ground.

The alpaca houndstooth blanket is all-natural:

And they are SOFT! It's impossible to truly describe how soft they are. Alpaca fiber is softer than wool. This houndstooth blanket is heaven. Each alpaca has a different feel. The softness of their fiber depends on age, genetics and diet. To make the ulimate alpaca product, the fiber should be sorted. Sorting puts like softness together. This fiber in this blanket has been sorted.

Houndstooth Bedding

So we've started off with an incredibly warm, all-natural alpaca blanket. It doesn't end there. This piece of houdstooth bedding is also American made.

The Alpaca Blanket Project gathers American grown fiber from small, indepedent farms across the country. It's processed (spun and woven) at the Pendleton Woolen Mills in Oregon and Washington.

Measurement Each houndstooth blanket has fringe on two sides and measures 53" x 70".

Care There are two ways to wash your alpaca houndstooth bedding. Pendleton recommends dry cleaning the blanket. The owners of the Alpaca Blanket Project have washed theirs in the washing machine on "extra gentle." They use cold water and air dry. We can not guarantee this type of washing is best for your blanket, but it has worked for the owners.



***Alpaca products made in Peru can be very beautiful, but don't be fooled. They don't have to actually contain 100% alpaca fiber to be labeled that for export.
