Plaid Baby Blanket
A plaid baby blanket is a classic look that these days, is out of the ordinary. The plaid of our baby blankets comes from the ancestry of the manufacturer's. It's elegant and stylish. So are the colors.
The American alpaca industry recognizes 22 colors. Everything from white to fawn to black. There are six categories of gray. Our plaid baby blanket is two of the grays, although there is no gray alpaca fiber in the blankets. Instead, the light gray is made from white and black fiber. The dark gray is made from white, black and brown fiber. Put another way, the colors are all natural. This blank baby blanket has no dyes. Besides being natural, that also means there's a depth to the color. There is a gradation you don't see is dyed material. It's gorgeous.
Alpaca Plaid Baby Blanket
In our humble opinion though, the best thing about our baby blankets is the alpaca. Alpaca fiber is luxurious. It's warm. It's a dream. And this alpaca plaid baby blanket is made from American fiber. American alpacas, mostly at small, independent farms, grew the fiber. It was processed and woven at Pendleton Woolen Mills of Oregon. An American alpaca plaid baby blanket. It's hard to get much better. The entire process is organized by the Alpaca Blanket Project.
To make the best blankets possible, all the alpaca fiber is sorted. Alpaca fiber comes in a whole range of softness. The feel depends on an animal's age, genetics, and to an extent, diet. Each fiber is measured in microns. The lower the micron, the softer the fiber. When fiber is grouped with like fiber, a better product results.

Each blanket measures 36" x 38" and has a finished, surged edge.
Care Pendleton recommends dry cleaning these blankets, but the owners of the Alpaca Blanket Project have been washing theirs in the machine on the gentle cycle. After dozens of washings, it is still beautiful, and may even be a little bit softer. Please use cool water and air dry.

***Alpaca products made in Peru can be very beautiful, but don't be fooled. They don't have to actually contain 100% alpaca fiber to be labeled that for export. Snuggle up with alpaca warmth!
